Cold and simplicity

We've been working hard to simplify our possessions (aka crap.) For example, it served me well for many years and many trips, but for some reason, I think it's finally time to retire one of our two travel hairbrushes:

The thermometer outside remains bottomed out, as it has been for most of the last two weeks:

I mean, what kind of jerk buys a thermometer that bottoms out at -10 and puts it outside in Alaska? My only defense is that it was on clearance for $3 and I wanted a hygrometer. At least it's pretty outside:

Know the saying "easy as pie"? Well, pie really isn't all that easy, but the results are usually fairly rewarding:

These are all vegan, and all the same filling: pear, apple, wiki, satsuma orange, and Meyer lemon zest:

Pretty tasty, if I do say so myself.

I continue to ride my bike, and train for the Frosty Bottom 50/25 . Here is the newly updated course map: Frosty Bottom . I rode most of the course as a trial run the other day, and I can't wait. I'm also seriously considering the Little Su 50 but it'll depend on travel schedules and work. Yes, I know I'm deranged.
